The second adventure of Nathan Drake begins in chaos: he wakes up badly wounded, hanging from a wrecked train dangling off a cliff in the Himalayas. As he climbs up and clings to life, flashbacks reveal how he got there.
Months earlier, Drake was approached by Harry Flynn and his ex-girlfriend Chloe Frazer to help steal a lamp from a museum in Istanbul, which supposedly holds clues to a lost treasure tied to the legendary explorer Marco Polo. But the job is a setup — Flynn betrays Drake, leaving him to be captured and imprisoned.
With Chloe’s help, Drake escapes and learns that Marco Polo's doomed expedition may have led to Shambhala, a mythical city said to house the powerful Cintamani Stone, an artifact of unimaginable strength.
Drake embarks on a globe-trotting journey from Turkey to Nepal, through warzones, temples, and mountain ranges, racing against a ruthless war criminal named Zoran Lazarević, who seeks to use the stone’s power for destruction. Along the way, Elena Fisher, the journalist and Drake’s former companion, reappears, sparking emotional tension between her and Chloe.
As the journey unfolds, Drake is forced to navigate betrayal, brutal battles, and moral choices. He discovers that Shambhala is real — and the Cintamani Stone is no mere treasure, but a source of corrupted power that could destroy entire nations.
In a climactic showdown within the lost city, Drake confronts Lazarević and manages to destroy the stone, triggering the city's collapse. He narrowly escapes with Elena, leaving the treasure behind, realizing that some things — like loyalty, love, and the thrill of the journey — are worth more than gold.
